HyperResponder workout history screen showing pull-ups tracked with reps and bodyweight, alongside stair climber and treadmill cardio entries.

HyperResponder can track bodyweight exercises without needing a normal weight entry.

This is useful for movements where your body is the main resistance, such as pull-ups, push-ups, dips, planks, and bodyweight squats.

Common Bodyweight Exercises

HyperResponder can log bodyweight movements such as:

  • pull-ups;

  • chin-ups;

  • push-ups;

  • dips;

  • sit-ups;

  • crunches;

  • planks;

  • bodyweight squats;

  • lunges;

  • burpees.

For most bodyweight exercises, include the exercise name, sets, reps, or time.

Examples:

How Bodyweight Appears in the Log

For some bodyweight exercises, HyperResponder may use your current bodyweight as the logged weight.

For example, if you log:

HyperResponder can show:

  • 1 set;

  • 8 reps;

  • your bodyweight as the weight.

This helps bodyweight movements sit alongside weighted exercises in your workout history.

If your bodyweight changes over time, keep it updated in the app where available. This gives HyperResponder a better reference point for bodyweight exercise tracking.

Bodyweight vs Weighted Exercises

A weighted exercise uses an external load.

Example:

A bodyweight exercise may use your bodyweight instead.

Example:

HyperResponder treats these differently because the resistance comes from your body, not a barbell, dumbbell, cable stack, or machine.

Adding Weight to Bodyweight Exercises

If you add extra weight, write it clearly.

Examples:

Using the + sign helps show that the weight is added on top of the bodyweight movement.

Assisted Bodyweight Exercises

If a machine or band reduces the load, include that clearly.

Examples:

This helps separate assisted movements from normal pull-ups or dips.

Time-Based Bodyweight Exercises

Some bodyweight exercises are tracked by time instead of reps.

Examples:

For these, include the duration and number of sets.

Bodyweight Exercises Can Sit Beside Cardio

A workout can include bodyweight exercises and cardio in the same session.

Example:

HyperResponder can structure these separately:

  • pull-ups as a bodyweight exercise;

  • stair climber by duration;

  • treadmill by duration and distance, if distance is included.

If you leave distance out, HyperResponder can still log the cardio entry using the time provided.

Best Format to Use

For bodyweight movements, use:

For added weight, use:

For timed work, use:

If a Bodyweight Exercise Parses Wrong

Check the parsed workout before saving.

Common fixes include:

  • changing the exercise name;

  • adding missing reps or sets;

  • making added weight clearer;

  • marking assisted exercises clearly;

  • separating multiple exercises onto different lines.

Clear logs give HyperResponder the best chance of tracking bodyweight work correctly.
